We had smoke from the wild fires in Minnesota. I was about 15 minutes too late to catch the sunset, but I wanted to try to capture the haze that smoke from a fire 550 miles away created. (Too bad there’s no easy way to capture the smell.) I don’t think I was fully successful, but it was worth a try.

Jason and I bought a Groupon on a few months back for Chicago Photo Safaris and after looking at the offerings decided to do one of the night time safaris to hone our night shooting skills. We stopped at 5 places in the downtown area over 4 hours. Â This shot was taken from near the Adler Planetarium, which is a fantastic place to get a skyline shot.
I learned some good stuff from Jessica, our tour leader, and took advantage of the locations.  I’ll put up a flickr album with the best shots later, but I wanted to get today’s photo of the day up. (I’m exhausted due to the late night. Boo, I’m old!) I’ll definitely sign up for another trip with them next summer.
